Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Below is a list of some of the most commonly asked questions.  If you can’t find your question please contact us.

Is Enprocal made in Australia?
Yes, our product is made in Victoria, with most ingredients produced by our parent company Warrnambool Cheese & Butter Factory.

How long can I keep Enprocal after I have opened it?
Stored in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight, Enprocal will keep until the Best Before date found on the bottom of the pack.

Do I need to keep my Enprocal in the fridge?
In its original, powder form, Enprocal needs no refrigeration.  However, once you have mixed it into liquid form, you need to store in the fridge, and use within 48 hours.

Can I add Enprocal to both hot and cold drinks?
Yes, Enprocal is suitable for adding to hot and cold drinks – both sweet and savoury.  If adding Enprocal to cold drinks, you may need to stir or shake the mixture more vigorously.  As Enprocal is milk based, when adding to very hot liquids, it may curdle.

In what foods and drinks can Enprocal powder be used?
Enprocal is a very versatile product, suitable for mixing into virtually any hot or cold drink such as juice, milk or coffee.  You can mix Enprocal into soft foods such as apple sauce, pudding or yogurt, or use it in recipes for muffins, pikelets and scones. You can also add Enprocal to soup and casseroles.  Remember not to add it during the cooking phase, or when the ingredients are very hot, as it may curdle. Enprocal is not recommended for carbonated drinks.

Does cooking with Enprocal alter the characteristics of the product?
As with most foods and food supplements, some water-soluble vitamins can be partially de-natured at higher temperatures.  However, the main features of the product remain nutritionally intact under normal conditions.  Food & beverages fortified with Enprocal will take on a lighter colour.  e.g. a chicken veg soup with half a scoop of Enprocal will appear more like a cream of chicken veg soup.  For foods already light in colour (milk, porridge, custard, etc.) colour change is generally not noticable.  Enprocal is flavour neutral and imparts no discernable flavour.  Enprocal is not a thickener but may have a slight thickening effect in high concentrations.

I stirred Enprocal into hot soup and it became ‘thready’.  Why?  And will it harm me to drink it?
Because Enprocal is high in milk-based proteins, high temperatures can make the mixture curdle.  However, only the soup’s appearance was affected – not the quality and taste – and it will not present any health or safety concerns. When adding Enprocal to hot food and drinks, allow to cool a little, before stirring in Enprocal.

Where do Enprocal’s ingredients come from?
Enprocal’s main ingredients come from fresh Australian milk, produced on our own dairy farms in Southern Victoria and South Australia.

Does Enprocal use genetically modified ingredients?
No, none of the ingredients we use are genetically modified.

What flavours are available?
Enprocal is designed to be versatile.  It is therefore unflavoured, so it can be mixed easily with both sweet and savoury ingredients.
